Privacy Policy for UUScribe

UUScribe is a mobile speech transcription application developed and operated by UUStudio. This Privacy Policy explains what data UUScribe may access, collect, use, store, and share, how Android permission-related features work, and how this information is handled for users of the Android app and related services.

Privacy-first design: UUScribe supports on-device transcription. Audio can be processed locally on the device. Cloud-related features are optional and are only used when the user chooses them.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, UUScribe may process the following information:

Audio recordings and imported audio/media files for transcription.
Transcription results, including recognized text and related metadata.
Account information, such as name, email address, and login identifiers, if you sign in.
Authentication data, such as access tokens required to keep you signed in.
Usage-related content, such as folders, task records, and notification status.

2. How We Use Information

To provide speech-to-text transcription features.
To let you record audio and transcribe imported files.
To save and organize your transcription history on your device.
To provide optional cloud transcription, upload, sync, and task management features.
To support account login, including email/password and third-party sign-in.
To display service notifications and task updates when enabled.

3. Android Permissions We Request

`RECORD_AUDIO`	Used to capture microphone input for live speech transcription and voice recording.
`READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` `WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` `READ_MEDIA_AUDIO` `READ_MEDIA_VIDEO`	Used to let you select and import audio or media files from your device for transcription. These permissions are only used for user-selected files.
`FOREGROUND_SERVICE` `FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE` `FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC`	Used so recording, transcription, and related processing can continue reliably while the app is actively running and showing a foreground service notification.
`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`	Used to show foreground service notifications and task-related notifications, if supported by the device and enabled by the user.
`INTERNET`	Used for optional online features such as account login, cloud transcription, file upload, folder sync, user profile retrieval, and notifications.

4. Local Processing and Device Storage

UUScribe is designed to support local, on-device processing. Audio recordings, imported files, and transcription records may be stored on your device so you can review and manage them later.

Locally stored data remains on your device unless you choose a feature that uploads content to online services.

5. Cloud Features and Remote Services

Some features in UUScribe are optional and use network services. If you choose cloud-related features, selected files, transcription tasks, account information, and related metadata may be transmitted to UUStudio services at https://scribe.uustudio.cc in order to provide:

account authentication,
cloud transcription workflows,
file upload and task processing,
folder and task synchronization, and
notification retrieval.

If you do not use cloud features, your use of UUScribe can remain limited to local on-device functionality.

When cloud features are used, data may also be processed by infrastructure, hosting, storage, authentication, and other technical service providers acting on UUStudio's behalf to operate the service.

6. Login and Third-Party Authentication

UUScribe may allow sign-in using email/password and Google. When you choose third-party login, we receive the information needed to authenticate your account, such as your basic profile information and email address, subject to the provider's authorization flow.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We only share or transmit data in the following situations:

With service providers that help us host, secure, store, or process data for the features you choose.
With Google when you choose that sign-in method.
When required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the service.

8. Data Retention

Local data: Stored on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Account and cloud data: Uploaded media and related artifacts may be retained for up to 365 days. Limited account, security, billing, or legal records may be retained longer where necessary to meet legal or operational obligations.

You may request deletion of your cloud account data by using supported account management features or by contacting [email protected]. We may retain limited information when necessary for security, fraud prevention, billing records, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

9. Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information used by UUScribe. When data is transmitted to our online services, it is sent over HTTPS. However, no method of storage or transmission over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Choices

You can deny microphone or file access permissions, but some features may not work.
You can choose whether to use local transcription or optional cloud features.
You can delete local recordings and transcription records from your device.
You can stop using account-based features by logging out.
You can request deletion of your cloud account data through supported account deletion tools or by contacting support.

11. Children's Privacy

UUScribe is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to provide consent for data processing.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at the same URL with a revised effective date.
